On a Finite Difference Scheme for a Beeler-reuter Based Model of Cardiac Electrical Activity

چکیده
We investigate an explicit finite difference scheme for a BeelerReuter based model of cardiac electrical activity. As our main result, we prove that the finite difference solutions are bounded in the L∞-norm. We also prove the existence of a weak solution by showing convergence to the solutions of the underlying model as the discretization parameters tend to zero. The convergence proof is based on the compactness method.

Spatiotemporal Control of Wave Instabilities in Cardiac Tissue
Electrical waves circulating around an obstacle in cardiac tissue are subject to a generic oscillatory instability. In a one-dimensional ring geometry this instability can produce both quasiperiodic and spatiotemporally chaotic oscillations while in a two-dimensional sheet of cardiac tissue it can lead to spiral wave breakup. We present a control scheme to prevent this instability in these two ...
متن کاملParameter estimation in cardiac ionic models.
We examine the problem of parameter estimation in mathematical models of excitable cell cardiac electrical activity using the well-known Beeler-Reuter (1977) ionic equations for the ventricular action potential. The estimation problem can be regarded as equivalent to the accurate reconstruction of ionic current kinetics and amplitudes in an excitable cell model, given only action potential expe...

In this paper, we introduce fractional-order into a model of HIV-1 infection of CD4^+ T--cells. We study the effect of the changing the average number of viral particles $N$ with different sets of initial conditions on the dynamics of the presented model. The nonstandard finite difference (NSFD) scheme is implemented to study the dynamic behaviors in the fractional--order HIV-1 ...

In a normal heartbeat, electrical activation starts from the SA node and propagates to both atria. It travels successively through the AV node, the His Bundle and finally the Purkinje fibers that distribute the excitation and contract ventricles. The electrical activation is formed by the unequal ionic distribution on both sides of the sarcoplasmic membrane, producing a difference of potential ...
متن کاملA Novel Flux-Based Protection Scheme for Power Transformers
Internal Turn-Turn faults (TTF) are the most common failures in power transformers, which could seriously reduce their life expectancy. Although common protection schemes such as current-baseddifferential protection are able to detect some of the internal faults, some other minor ones (such as TTFs andshort circuit near the neutral point) cannot be detected by such schemes. Likewise, these rela...
